This stunning basket is made by artisans in Rwanda, a country in central Africa. It's crafted by carefully wrapping naturally dyed strands of sisal around a core of locally gathered forest grasses -- a process that can take two to three days to make just one medium sized basket. Hang it on the wall as art work, or put it on a coffee table or ottoman as décor.
The second image shows how this basket looks with others available at my shop.
Approx. Size: 18" diameter; 2 1/2" deep
Color: Black and tea. The tea color comes from soaking the sisal in brewed tea until the desired color is achieved.
